Bella the Bunny stood at the edge of the big cruise ship and held her small basket very tightly.
The boat was huge. It shone in the sun. The water below it moved in soft, slow waves. Bella’s ears lifted high as she looked around.
“Wow,” she whispered. “This is a big day.”
She peeked into her basket.
Inside were her favorite things. Crunchy orange carrots. Sweet red berries. A tiny blue toy boat. And her soft, yellow cloth.
Bella smiled.
“These are mine,” she said quietly.
She stepped onto the deck. The wood felt warm under her feet. The air smelled like salt and sunshine.
Bella walked to a sunny spot and sat down. She pulled out a carrot and took a small bite.
Crunch.
She closed her eyes. “Mmm.”
Just then—
Splash!
Bella opened her eyes.
A wet, happy otter ran across the deck. Water dripped from his fur. He shook himself, and tiny drops flew everywhere.
“Oh! Sorry!” he said with a grin. “Hi! I’m Toby!”
Bella blinked. “Hi… I’m Bella.”
Toby looked at her basket.
“Are those carrots?” he asked.
Bella held her basket a little closer. “Yes.”
Toby rubbed his tummy. “I was playing in the water and forgot my snack. Do you have an extra one?”
Bella looked down at her basket.
She had packed just enough for herself.
She thought for a moment.
Her paws held the basket tight.
Do I want to share?
She looked at Toby. He was smiling, but his eyes looked a little hopeful.
Bella slowly picked up one small carrot.
“Um… you can have this one,” she said.
Toby’s face lit up. “Really? Thank you!”
He took the carrot and chomped it happily.
“Best carrot ever!” he said with a laugh.
Bella watched him.
She still had plenty left.
And something inside her felt a little warm.
“Okay,” she said softly. “That was… nice.”
Toby waved and ran off again, sliding across the deck.
Bella smiled just a little.
Then she stood up and picked up her basket.
“I want to see more,” she said.
Bella walked across the deck. She passed chairs and umbrellas. She heard the soft sound of the waves and the distant cries of birds.
Soon, she found a quiet corner.
It was calm there. A small bench sat by the railing. The ocean stretched wide and blue.
On the bench sat a little penguin.
She was very still.
Very quiet.
Bella slowed her steps.
“Hello,” Bella said gently.
The penguin looked up. “Oh… hello.”
“I’m Bella,” she said.
“I’m Tess,” said the penguin.
Tess looked down again.
Bella sat on the bench, but she left a small space between them.
They were both quiet for a moment.
Bella looked at Tess.
“You can sit closer,” Bella said.
Tess blinked. “Oh… okay.”
She scooted just a little.
Bella opened her basket.
She picked up a berry.
Then she paused.
Another share?
She looked at Tess again.
Tess’s flippers were folded tight. She looked like she didn’t want to ask for anything.
Bella held out the berry.
“Would you like one?” she asked.
Tess’s eyes grew wide. “For me?”
Bella nodded.
Tess took the berry very gently.
“Thank you,” she said softly.
She took a small bite.
A tiny smile appeared.
“It’s sweet,” Tess said.
Bella smiled too.
They sat together and watched the water.
“Do you like the boat?” Bella asked.
Tess nodded. “Yes… But it’s big. I don’t always know where to go.”
Bella thought about that.
“I didn’t either,” she said. “But I’m finding places.”
Tess looked at her. “Maybe… I can come too?”
Bella nodded. “Yes. You can.”
They both stood up.
Bella held her basket a little looser now.
They walked together until they heard laughter.
“Over there!” Bella said.
They came to the play area.
Animals were running, jumping, and playing games.
A ball rolled near Bella’s feet.
A small voice called out, “Can you toss it back?”
Bella picked up the ball.
She tossed it.
The animals cheered.
“Come play!” one of them said.
Bella looked at her basket.
Then she looked at Tess.
Tess gave a small nod.
Bella reached into her basket and pulled out her tiny blue toy boat.
“This is mine,” she said slowly.
Then she took a breath.
“…but we can play with it together.”
The others gathered around.
They pushed the toy boat across the floor, pretending it was sailing on waves.
Toby came back, laughing.
“Hey! You’re here!” he said.
Bella laughed too.
She ran. She played. She shared.
Time passed.
Bella didn’t count her carrots.
She didn’t count her berries.
She just played.
After a while, Bella felt a little tired.
She picked up her basket again.
It felt lighter now.
“Let’s go somewhere quiet,” she said.
Tess nodded.
They walked away from the noise.
Soon, they found a soft, cozy corner.
There were pillows. A small shelf of books. A calm, gentle space.
On one of the pillows sat a lamb.
She had soft, fluffy wool and kind eyes.
She looked up as Bella and Tess came in.
“Hello,” she said warmly. “I’m Nellie.”
“I’m Bella,” Bella said.
“And I’m Tess,” said Tess.
Nellie smiled. “It’s nice to meet you.”
Bella sat down.
She opened her basket.
Inside, there was only one thing left.
Her favorite snack.
A bright, crunchy carrot. The best one she had saved.
Bella picked it up.
She looked at it.
She looked at Nellie.
Nellie’s tummy made a small rumble.
“Oh,” Nellie said quietly. “I forgot my snack today.”
Bella held the carrot.
Her ears lowered just a little.
This is my last one.
She looked at Tess.
She looked at Nellie.
Then she looked at her basket.
It was almost empty.
Bella took a deep breath.
She broke the carrot in half.
She handed one piece to Nellie.
“You can have this,” Bella said.
Nellie’s eyes softened. “Are you sure?”
Bella nodded. “Yes. I want to share.”
Nellie took it gently.
“Thank you, Bella,” she said.
They ate together in the quiet corner.
No one rushed.
No one grabbed.
It felt calm. It felt nice.
Bella looked into her basket again.
It was empty now.
She blinked.
“My basket is empty,” she said.
Tess looked at her.
Nellie looked at her.
Bella waited for a sad feeling.
But it didn’t come.
Instead, she felt something warm.
Something soft.
“I feel… happy,” Bella said.
Nellie smiled. “That’s what sharing can do.”
Bella stood up.
“Let’s go back to the deck,” she said.
They walked together.
Step by step.
No rush.
When they reached the sunny deck, they saw Toby again.
“Bella!” he called.
“Come here!”
Bella walked over.
Toby had a small cup of juice.
“Want some?” he asked.
Bella blinked. “For me?”
Toby grinned. “Of course!”
Tess sat beside her.
Nellie sat on the other side.
More friends came too.
Someone shared a game.
Someone told a silly story.
Someone made everyone laugh.
Bella sat in the middle of it all.
Her basket was empty.
But her heart felt full.
Very full.
The sun began to lower in the sky.
The light turned soft and golden.
Bella leaned back and looked at the sky.
“This was a big day,” she said.
Tess nodded. “A good day.”
Nellie smiled. “A sharing day.”
Bella closed her eyes for a moment.
She could still feel the warm deck.
She could still hear the gentle waves.
She opened her eyes again and looked at her friends.
“I think,” Bella said softly, “sharing made my day better.”
Toby laughed. “It made our day better!”
Bella smiled.
She didn’t hold her basket tight anymore.
She didn’t need to.
She had something even better now.
Friends.
Laughter.
And a warm, happy feeling she wanted to keep.
Bella curled her ears close and rested.
The boat rocked gently.
The ocean whispered.
And Bella the Bunny, with her empty basket and her full heart, stayed right there with her friends as the day slowly drifted into night.
